About Sainte-Cécile

We founded the brand Sainte-Cécile after selling our instruments in our workshop for 20 years. To date, we have sold over 7,000 bowed instruments across Europe. We specialize in the production of quality string instruments, combining traditional craftsmanship with our sales experience to meet the needs of musicians and institutions.

Materials
Our instruments are made from selected tonewoods, including spruce and highly flamed maple. These woods are harvested during the winter moon. They are naturally air-dried for 5 to 10 years to ensure stability, durability, and optimal acoustic properties.

Manufacturing Process
All instruments are handcrafted by luthiers following traditional Italian methods. The manufacturing process emphasizes precise thickness graduations, accurate fitting of components, and consistent application of varnishes. These varnishes are either lightly patinated or designed to replicate antique-style finishes, enhancing both sound quality and durability.

Final Assembly and Adjustment
Instruments are assembled and fine-tuned in our workshop in France. This process includes installing ebony fingerboards, pegs, and other fittings, as well as custom-fitting the bridge and soundpost to achieve optimal tonal response and playability. Each instrument undergoes rigorous acoustic testing to ensure it meets performance standards.
